Parent Feedback gathered via Ask Your Team Survey

Thank you to all parents who contributed such worthwhile feedback. We have reviewed these comments and would like to let you know the changes that we are making as a result.

Frequency of Reporting

There were a number of comments regarding how we report on learning reporting. These changes are written in today’s In Touch in the section under Ms Juliet Collins, Assistant Principal Curriculum.

Mobile Phone Policy

Another area which we received feedback on from our parent community was in the area of mobile phone use for students. Many of you commented that they were intrusive which we also agreed with and, as a result of this, our new mobile phone policy began this week. The results of this have already been positive. Having such support from you all at home has reinforced this and, as a result, have made this so much easier to implement. It has been noted, however, that there is still a lot of communication between our girls and home with the use of laptops for messaging instead of phones. If your daughter does email you or text you from her laptop during school hours could you please not reply so that she is able to concentrate instead on the task of learning. We do appreciate that there may be times that you need to get an urgent message to her and we are very happy to take a message anytime in the office and will ensure that your daughter does receive this. I am certain that any text messages or voicemails left on her phone will be checked at 3.30pm when turning her cell phone on is probably the first thing that she does!

Education Review Office (ERO) report

This week we received the confirmed report from our recent review from the Education Office. We are very pleased with the report which highlighted the areas that we have made changes in especially with regards to our introduction of a seamless Years 7-13 school. Our review did not highlight any recommendations which is pleasing. I have taken out some of the comments which I felt were heartening to read:

Students have sufficient opportunity to learn through:

· Settled classrooms;

· Effective teaching practices and strategies;

· Student voice and choice informing the design of learning programmes;

· There is appropriate support for all students to access the scope and richness of the curriculum;

· Learning support is wide ranging and includes supporting students to develop relevant and useful learning skills;

· The Care and Development Team provides comprehensive and coordinated support for students’ wellbeing;

· There is an intentional focus on developing students’ skills, attributes and dispositions for effective independent learning;

· The Curriculum is responsive to the interests, needs and abilities of students. It is future focussed, involving coherent learning programmes and contexts in the areas of digital technology and sustainability.
