Sandra Hastie —

This week marks the end of the academic year for our senior students, with the exam period beginning next week. There are a huge number of people to thank and congratulate on this milestone, however I would like to acknowledge the girls for not only getting through the year, but excelling under the most challenging of circumstances. Those that attended either of our awards assemblies in the past two weeks will attest to the incredible dedication our girls have shown this year, to not only themselves and their families, but the school, the teams and groups they’re involved with, and our wider community. I sincerely thank you girls, and congratulate you all on reaching this important part of the year. I have every faith that those of you heading into exams will show the same dedication and commitment, and wish you all the best.

This week we celebrated ‘Super Day’ (see photos below) with a huge number of activities and fun taking place on our field on Wednesday afternoon. A big thanks to our Senior Leaders who made the afternoon happen. You have all been an inspiration this year and have led the girls through the ups and downs so well. We are very proud!

You will have seen your invitation to our end of year Prize Giving on Thursday 3 December, this week via email. Please RSVP as soon as you can to guarantee your seats, as we do have limited tickets for the Town Hall. Please note that it is compulsory for students of Rangi Ruru to attend on the evening.

Thank you to the hundreds of you who took the time to complete our Parent and Caregiver Survey. We have been positively overwhelmed by the response, and are working our way through the feedback, along with the comprehensive data from students and staff. Outcomes from the feedback will be shared with you closer to the end of Term 4.

Covid has again raised it’s head in Christchurch, with community cases for the first time since the initial outbreak. I want to assure you all that our increased standards around hygiene remain, and the health and safety of all those in our community is our priority. We have received no additional recommendations from the Ministry of Health or Education and are exceeding our requirements for a safe school environment. We will certainly update you should this situation change.

A reminder that we are working with Presbyterian Support to help local families in need this Christmas. Unwrapped items such as non-perishable Christmas goodies, children’s toys/stationery or a donation towards purchasing vouchers, would be greatly appreciated. Please see the update from our Chaplain here for more information.

Finally, a quick reminder that next week the school and school office are closed on Thursday and Friday. Have a great Canterbury Anniversary weekend!
