Youth Sustainability Conferences

Rosetta Brown - Head of Sustainability —

Two conferences for students interested in developing leadership skills, meeting other passionate young people and looking at what climate change and plastic pollution means for the future of New Zealand.

Are you keen to be a future leader, innovator and change-maker? At Rangi we believe it is crucial we fully understand the environmental impacts of our actions and come up with solutions to issues. We encourage students from Year 7-13 to get together with friends and attend some local sustainability conferences and hui. These are fun and informative and a great chance to connect with others in the wider community. Challenge the widespread disempowerment around climate change and plastic pollution and take steps to play an important role in shaping the future!

EnviroPAST Youth Conference

EnviroPAST is a two day sustainability and plastic pollution conference next week on April 12th and 13th at the Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna Waiwhetu. This event brings together business leaders, academics and entrepreneurs at the forefront of sustainability. There will be talks, hands on workshops and tree planting designed by youth to inspire, educate, connect and challenge students how to live and lead sustainably. Registration $10. www.enviropast.com

Christchurch Climate Challenge

Are you interested in developing your leadership skills, meeting other passionate young people and looking at what climate change means for the future of New Zealand? The Christchurch Climate Challenge Conference is in June at the University of Canterbury. It will include speakers, leadership workshops and interactive simulations that will equip you to be a leader in your community and take action on climate change! It’s a youth for youth initiative, run for and by high school students from all over the country. Registrations are $18 and close soon so get in quick: http://www.climatechallenge.co.nz/

It would be great to have good representation from Rangi students at both these events. Any questions, please email Rosetta brown.r@rangiruru.school.nz.
