From the Acting Principal

Stephanie Barnett —

I hope that you, your whānau and your friends have made it to the end of Term 2 without suffering from too much winter sickness or fatigue. It’s certainly been a hectic term for all of us with sport, music, dances and other pursuits competing for time with academic goals. Getting the balance right isn’t easy but if it can be done, it does make for a fulfilling life.

The school dances have been a highlight and I’d like to congratulate and acknowledge the work of Imogen Bell and the Community Council for all the organisation that produced a very memorable Senior Dance. I’d like to thank those staff as well that were involved in the Year 11 Semi-Formal and Year 9 Dance, in particular the Deans, Erin Fitzpatrick and Jon Kimber, and Tania Morgan. They were very enjoyable evenings for everyone.

We were delighted to see such a good turn-out at Friends @ 5.30 last week where we were fortunate to be inspired, challenged and empowered by three highly effective speakers. Our thanks to Darryl Swann, Miranda Burdon and Fleur Pawsey for sharing such worthwhile messages with us, and to those who attended who made it possible for us to support the charity, Pillars.

Throughout the next three weeks, please ensure that the girls in your care take a proper break and have the time to breathe deeply, to recharge their batteries, to enjoy the environment and to do those things that they enjoy so they come back to an important Term 3 feeling both refreshed and positive about things to come. Remember to reinforce the school’s messages about being aware of others, being kind to ourselves and one another, and treating everyone with respect and aroha.

We’re all looking forward to welcoming Dr Hastie back from her adventures and to hearing her tall tales. I’d like to offer my sincere thanks to Tania Morgan who has stepped into the role of Acting Deputy Principal with such professionalism.

My best wishes everyone, Stephanie Barnett
