On Friday 19 February we held our first Awards Assembly for 2021.

Primarily this ceremony celebrates academic achievement in NCEA in 2020. We congratulate all our students on their 2020 results in such a problematic year and publicly acknowledge the extraordinary levels of success of these students.

Our guest speaker was Gabi Newman, Head Girl in 2016. Gabi’s speech, outlining her journey in the five years since she left Rangi Ruru, was tremendously well received and she has generously provided a transcript for us below. We are always thrilled to welcome Old Girls (including young ‘old’ girls) back to speak and appreciate them sharing their experiences with us. Gabi’s outlining of her change of direction and the rationale resonated with us all.
