Winter Tournament Week Breakfast

This morning we celebrated the upcoming Winter Tournament week with a combined breakfast for all teams heading to tournaments next week. It was a great way to bring the teams together & share some kai prior to heading off to compete for Rangi Ruru. Shane Bond, international cricketer and coach, spoke about his tournament experiences. Key takeaways – you may not remember the games, but you will always remember the people and the experiences you shared together!

We wish all our teams involved in tournaments the very best of luck as they head away.

Winter Sport Finals…. and that’s a wrap!

For many sports, weekly winter competition finished this week. While there were some great results across sports, equally important to us is the manner in which our teams conducted themselves over the season and the positive feedback received from opposing teams and spectators.

Shout out to the following teams who made finals or who will be playing finals in the coming week:

Cycling
At the Canterbury Schools Team Time Trial Championships, our cycling squad brought home the U20 Litoff Cup, also placing 3rd in the same race, while the U16s placed 2nd in the race for the Amy Dawe Cup.

Football
1st XI team played with grit and determination to keep STAC scoreless in normal time (0-0) before going down in a penalty shoot out, finishing 2nd in the Connetics School Premier Girls 1st XI competition

Hockey
1st XI – finished 3rd in Connetics SSP, with a hard-fought penalty shoot-out win over Villa
2nd XI – finished 1st in SSL Div 1 competition with a 2-1 win over Rangiora

Netball
Saturday netball wraps up over the next fortnight with our Senior C and D teams, along with the 10A team competing in semi-finals this weekend.
In Wednesday Netball, the 9C and 10C teams won their finals – congratulations teams!

Check out our Rangi Ruru Sport Facebook and Instagram for more updates on what our students have been doing in orienteering and skiing/snowboarding this month.

Year 7 & 8 Update

Students have been having a great time learning new skills across Futsal, Volleyball, Touch and Cricket. It has been wonderful to see students participating and trying something new.

Our hockey gold and football team participated in CAIMS Winter Tournament earlier in the week. Both teams had such a fantastic time and have all come away with some memorable experiences. A massive congratulations to our hockey gold team who came 2nd and to our football team who came 3rd – such fantastic results.
