Sports and Multi-Purpose Centre Construction

Rangi Ruru Girls' School —

With the exciting news that our Board of Governors has approved the Sports and Multi-Purpose Centre being built, with construction commencing in 2021, we would like to update you regarding some implications for the school.

Disruption and the impact from the build on the operation of the school will be minimal, as the construction site will be accessed via a separate entrance on Hewitts Road. The sports field, and swimming pool will remain open and PE classes/trainings and swimming sports will continue. There will be traffic management plans in place for Hewitts Road, and at times the drop off zone on Hewitt’s Road may be impacted. Any traffic management impacts will be communicated via our Intouch newsletters.

There are several buildings being demolished prior to construction, and the following changes have been made for 2021:

  • Languages will be based in Tāniko
  • Equestrian will be based in the Creative Hub
  • Year 12 will no longer have a Common Room
  • High Performance Learning (HPL) will be based downstairs in the Art & Technology Block (alongside the Japanese Garden)
  • International Dean will be based downstairs in the Science Centre (alongside the Japanese Garden)
  • Residence of the Director of Boarding is no longer onsite, however, there is no change to the 24 hour onsite boarding staffing

Please let us know here if you have any questions about the project.
