Top Scholar - Visual Arts
Congratulations to Alyssa Robinson - Top Scholar in Printmaking, Outstanding Scholarship (Printmaking) and Scholarship (Painting).
New Zealand Scholarship provides recognition and monetary reward to top students (3%) in their last year of schooling. Assessment enable students to be examined against challenging standards. Candidates are expected to demonstrate high-level critical thinking and show the ability to integrate, synthesise and apply knowledge, skills, understanding and ideas to complex situations.
Alyssa's ideas were based on destruction as a result of the Canterbury earthquakes. Her stylistic interests were gestural in approach and included energetic and expressive markmaking. Alyssa's love of rich, vibrant colour and abstraction can be seen clearly in her portfolio.
The Visual Art team admire Alyssa's energy 'can-do' attitude and ability to take risks in her learning.
This is the second consecutive year a Rangi Ruru student has been awarded Top Scholar in Printmaking.
We extend our congratulations also to Molly Halpine, awarded a Scholarship in Painting and Charlotte Corkery and Danielle Rutter received Scholarships in Printmaking.
