From the Principal

Dr Sandra K Hastie —

It is hard to believe the end of the school year has well and truly arrived. The year’s end always brings with it a tremendous sense of accomplishment.

As we conclude Term 4 it is a reflective time at school as our Year 13 girls leave us and hand over the reins of the Senior Leadership positions to our 2020 Year 13 leaders. I want to personally acknowledge all the hard work of our Head of School, Rachel McSweeney and Head of Boarding, Alice Graham as well as the Student Leadership team for their enthusiasm and passion in leading us all with their vision of Flourish.

Thank you also to the fabulous Clan Leaders, led by Amelia Wilson. What an absolutely outstanding team we have enjoyed this year.

We wish all of our Year 13 leavers the very best and look forward to what the future holds for each and every one of them.

STAFF FAREWELLS

We are also farewelling two members of Staff – Carrie Hartel and Allan Hawes. We thank them for the valuable contribution that they have made to our students and wish them the very best for their future.

CLAN FAMILY CAROL SERVICES & PRIZE GIVING

I look forward to celebrating the culmination of another outstanding year for Rangi Ruru with our community at our Clan Family Carol Services this Sunday, and to seeing all our parents, grandparents and siblings attend Prize Giving at the Christchurch Town Hall on Wednesday 4 December.

On behalf of the staff and school, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and a safe and wonderful summer break. I leave you with a delightful quote about Christmas from the loveable character Charlie Brown, also known as the kid who never gives up, even though he almost never wins!

“It’s not what’s under the Christmas tree that matters, but who’s around it.”

- Charlie Brown, A Charlie Brown Christmas
