Congratulations to four of our Stellar Music Scholars who have successfully auditioned for the 2023 NZSO National Youth Orchestra (NYO):

• Ella Chen (Year 13) - violin
• Chloe Jiang (Year 12) - violin
• Juliet Park (Year 13) - viola
• Elise Tian (Year 10) - cello

Places in the NYO are hugely competitive and sought after by young musicians aged 25 years and under, with the vast majority being tertiary level students and beyond. The NYO plays a vital role in providing unique opportunities for the country’s most gifted young orchestral performers, many of who go on to forge successful careers as orchestral players, soloists, chamber musicians and teachers.

The 2023 NYO will rehearse in Wellington between June 25 – July 1, with concerts in Wellington (June 30) and Auckland (July 1) under six-time Grammy Award-winning conductor Giancarlo Guerrero.
