Kia ora,

As part of our ongoing commitment to strengthening a positive school culture, where ākonga, staff and whānau feel safe and heard when they have concerns, we would appreciate you taking a short survey about our culture here at Rangi Ruru. The survey forms part of the Board’s Strategic Goals and the ongoing work that our board and senior management team undertake around the safety and wellbeing of our students. Our Rangi Ruru whānau have an important role to play in supporting us to achieve these goals and we would appreciate you taking a few minutes to complete the survey. You can complete the survey here.

We’ve had a great response to the launch of our joint senior production ‘Anything Goes’, which is taking place from 15 – 18 May; the best tickets in the house are selling quickly so please head along to the link here and support the performing arts!

On the topic of performing arts, this week ākonga from Rangi Ruru, Christ’s College and St Margaret’s College came together for the annual Orchestra Extravaganza. Wow, what an amazing evening! Congratulations to all of our students and staff involved in bringing the event together; it takes countless hours of practice and dedication.

Last week we held our special Easter Communion service, led by Rev Phyllis Harris. Our Service Council once again organised the bringing together of Easter baskets to donate to charities including Aviva, Cholmondeley Children’s Centre, Women’s Refuge, Ronald McDonald House and Canterbury Refugees. Thank you to families for generously donating to such great causes.

As this is the final Intouch until Term 2, I would like to congratulate all of our students on their success this term. I am extremely proud of our Rangi Ruru ākonga for performing at their best, whether it be on the sports field or the stage, in the pool or the classroom, at home or in the Boarding House – thank you all for contributing to a great term. There are some more specific results and wrap ups in other articles in this Intouch.

We have a few more events next week before the term break, including our cross country on Wednesday (which you’re welcome to attend at North Hagley Park with the first race at 1.30pm) and a non-uniform day on Thursday. A reminder also that school finishes at 12.40pm on Monday for staff professional learning.

Ngā mihi
