Tiakihana Tavendale is acknowledged with a Te Whare Pora Commendation Award at the Ringa Toi Exhibition that opened at Te Papa today.

His Maro (traditional apron often seen in Kapa Haka) was hand-made in traditional materials and methods. It is a huge achievement at his age to be producing this standard of work. He has made us all proud.
