Ngata House News

Kia ora Ngata whānau,

In these unusual and unprecedented times, I extend my greetings to you, in the hope that you are safe and well in your family bubble.

It is important for you to remember that if you have any pastoral concerns for your child, you please contact Mr Berg and I via email as we are here to support you and your child through this uncertain time. We are available for you, and will do our very best to support you.

This week has seen us celebrate an unusual ANZAC Day. I hope that you were able to remember, honour and celebrate those who fought to protect our great country, and engaged with our RHS commemoration service that was streamed and attached to our website for you to view.

Both the Year 10 Ngata Ako Leader and I have been sending out weekly newsletters to our students within these year levels to ask them to be kind and patient with all of their teachers as we continue to navigate our online learning environment. We have also discussed the importance of extending this kindness and patience to all members of their bubble and to the wider community. This, of course, is plea that is not just limited to our junior school.

I have every hope that you have found this period of lockdown to be a time of connection and/or reconnection with your immediate family unit and that you have found an opportunity to engage in their learning activities, and requirements for their subjects.

For our Year 9 students, Friday Hangouts with myself and Mrs Abraham (their English Teacher) have come with a bit of a theme. Last week was ‘Crazy Hair Day’. Attached are some of the screenshots of our conversation with this year group. It has become something that we really look forward to, and brightens our day. I have every hope that you too have been able to create moments of fun and laughter in your day, and very much look forward to seeing you all safe, well and settled back at our wonderful school.
