Polo and Dressage

Polo

The Polo team had a very successful Term 1 with 8 international students and 6 non-international students attending training each week, the sport is going from strength to strength.

At the first interschool tournament of the year on 3rd March, we entered two teams. The Rangiora A team won all of their games comfortably and came out winners of the C grade. The B team also won all of their games winning the D grade, with Murielle Prescha winning Most Valuable Player for the division. Lucy Grigg also competed in the B grade and in a hard-fought A grade, which was a great spectacle.

The next SUPA tournament on 24th March was the biggest ever interschool tournament in New Zealand with 24 teams entered. We entered three Rangiora teams, with our B and C teams winning two games and narrowly losing one, both finishing third in their respective grades (D and E). Our A team won the highly competitive C grade, with Lucy Grigg winning Most Valuable Player. Lucy went on to compete in a very fast-paced A grade final, which we all really enjoyed watching.

We are excited to see what term 4 brings for the polo team at Rangiora and look forward to welcoming some new international students as well.

Dressage

The Rangiora High School Dressage team had a great day at the Interschools Championships held at NEC recently. We fielded two teams in the competition with each rider completing two tests over the course of the day. The teams placed 7th (RHS Green) and 10th (RHS Gold) out of a competitive field of 25 teams. We also had the following individual placings in their classes:

Ruby Kerr Level 2 – 1st and 6th

Sophie Stephens Level 1 - 2nd and 3rd

Yasmine Regos Level 1 – 4th.

Well done to all students who competed.
