Sheppard House News

Kia ora te whanau o Ngati Mako. Welcome to the last newsletter entry for 2019. I will hand over to our outstanding Executive representatives to sum up the year. Over to you Jemma and Tara...

2019 has been a great year for Sheppard house. It was jam packed full of events and loads of fun. This year we had a great exec team consisting of Shannon Smart, Jemma Johnson, Blake Benny, Berend Oldenburger, Josh Lees, and Maggie Gaughan. We were accompanied by the junior exec as well which was Tara Benny, Charli Barnard, Corban Sutherland, and Hannah Lord. Our team was also lucky enough to work alongside the incredible Mr Anderson and Ms Anderson as our Head of House and Dean. As a house we accomplished many different placings during the year such as taking out the junior summerfest competition, 2nd in film fest, and 3rd in choir. Our house charity is the Ronald McDonald House and this year we managed to raise a massive total of $4125 after holding a number of fundraising initiatives. This year has consisted of highs, lows and challenges for us, but our team stuck at it and we all worked so well together. We have shared many laughs and created some everlasting memories. All of us have had an amazing year together, developed our leadership skills and learnt very valuable life lessons which we will use in the future. On behalf of the team thank you to Mr Anderson and Ms Anderson for guiding us through this year. We couldn't have done it without you. Also a huge thank you to all students and teachers in Sheppard for your contribution towards the house and making it feel like one big whanau.

2019 has been a pretty cool year for me. I have really enjoyed being on the Sheppard Executive Team. Working with older students has been very inspirational. It has been amazing to see so many juniors get involved and make a contribution to a whole bunch of events.

This year all our houses participated in a wide range of sporting and cultural events and Sheppard did an outstanding job in all of them. We encourage and accept everyone who contributes to play whether they are an athlete or are just trying it out. But most importantly we all have fun. We all really enjoyed playing Benchball, Netball and Volleyball.

Rangiora High School encourages contribution because you get the thrill and enjoyment of making friends and competing in a friendly way with a wide range of students.

I would like to extend a massive thank you to all of Ngati Mako for your contributions, attitude and approach to being part of Te Kura Tuarua O Rangiora. 2019 has been a really rewarding year and I have really enjoyed working with a team of talented students and staff.
