Sheppard House
Sheppard House News
Kia ora Ngāti Mako
Term Four has flown by and it is sadly my last term as Acting Head of Sheppard House. In happy news next year will see the return of the much missed Mrs Dowling!
Here’s what we’ve been up to:
Clash of Clans:
The Year 13s went out with a bang - winning the Clash of Clans last day events. Everything was included from dodgeball to tug of war. Awesome costumes were worn and it was a fitting way to say goodbye to our best as they embarked upon their exams. We wish all the amazing Year 13s the best of luck in their future endeavours.
Summerfest:
Due to a tight time frame and some bad weather we had a somewhat shortened Summerfest this year. Touch was unfortunately canceled but we still got out on the Volleyball Court and spiked our way to victory!! A massive thank you to the players Aidan Haverkort, John Lundy, Jae-lee Stapp, Luke Huria, Marcus Smallwood, Jess Haldane, Niko Musson, Luci Elliott and Matt Bradshaw.
Winners
All of this hard work meant that Sheppard House are the overall winners of the House Cup. Whether you have contributed in a big or small way you should be proud of this achievement.
2023
Congratulations to Grace Leen who has been selected as Sheppard’s 2023 House Captain. The Senior Executive team will be made up of Kahn Charles, Jess Hendren, Adam Wake, Couper Wiki and Alyssa Grigor. This is a very strong team and I know they will work really hard next year.
Kaiako
Of course none of these events could be possible without the support of the amazing Kaiako of Sheppard House. We are really lucky to have such dedicated and helpful staff who always support their Wānanga classes. We are sad to lose two staff members this year. Anne Kininmonth leaves us this year to retire but we are so thankful to her for her 35 years of service at RHS and especially to Sheppard House. Also, Chole Deboo leaves us to work closer to home. We will miss her greatly, her angelic voice in choir rehearsals was an inspiration to us all. We are also happy for Anya Souvorova who leaves us for one year to travel overseas but will eagerly await her return in 2024.
Ākonga
Last but not least, a huge bunch of gratitude to the wonderful students. You have been working hard and giving it your all in House events and your classes all year. We appreciate your enthusiasm and are looking forward to seeing you all in 2023 for a back to back win!!
