Cattle Handling
Term 1
This year we have 13 students in the team and in Term 1 they have been preparing for the Malvern and Oxford A & P shows twice a week. There are six year 9 students in the team and they are all enjoying the opportunity to learn the ropes from Philip and Kay Worthington.
The Malvern show was held on 25 March and the results for the handlers competition were:
Novice: Israel Hansen 1st, Molly Cherry 2nd, Chantelle Stuart-Gardiner, 3rd, Annabelle Birchler 4th , Abby Hoggart 5th, Rueben Bester 6th
Junior (under 16): John Lundy 1st, Samara van Wky 3rd, Emily Pye 4th, Harry Parish 5th, Erin Drummy 6th, Tara Browne 7th.
Senior : Ariki Matehaere 2nd in only his second year of competing.
The Oxford show was on 1 April. The results were:
Novice handlers- Molly Cherry 2nd, Chantell Stura-Gardener 3rd, Abby Hoggart 4th, Annabelle Birchler 5th
Intermediate handlers- Emily Pye 1st, John Lundy 2nd, Tara Browne 3rd, Samara van Wyk 5th, Ariki Matehaere and Israel Hansen 6rd=
Stock judging :
Intermediate- John Lundy 1st, Ariki Matehaere 2nd, Harry Parish and Israel Hansen 3rd=, Samara van Wyk and and Annabelle Birchler 4rd=
The group will now take a break from training until August when they will start to prepare for the North Canterbury show and New Zealand shows in October and November.
