Mansfield House News

Kia ora Whānau

What an amazing term we have had in Mansfield House. There has been a lot of achievement by both staff and students, but two things for me really stand out.

Firstly the outstanding participation by students in Junior and Winter Summerfest. Seniors were the overall winners of Winter Summerfest and Juniors came in a solid third. It was heartening to see both groups work well together to produce some awesome and often funny moves on the netball court. This is the first time we have had combined netball and it worked really well. The students had a lot of fun and it was a great effort by all those involved which really highlights that hard work and perseverance can win on the day. Next term we look forward to Choir, Film fest and Senior Speech Competitions.

Secondly the Shave for a Cure, Child Cancer Fundraiser. As I write this we are gearing up for our Head Shave, which will take place on Friday, 6th  July  in the school hall. We have 20 very brave students and one staff member who will shave all their hair off so we can raise money for our very worthy cause. The Year 13 executive has worked tirelessly towards this day. They have secured  a lot of sponsors, to whom we would like to say a massive thank you.

The exec have a give little page, which you are more than welcome to donate to @https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/mansfield-house-shave-for-a-cure-2019. They are also selling raffle tickets for some awesome prizes.

This term we also interviewed and selected our Junior Executive, who will work alongside and learn from our Senior Executive, for the rest of this year. I am very pleased to announce the following Year 10 students for Junior Executive; Lauren Trolove, Abbie Walls and Conor Pritchard and our Year 9 representative is Georgia Smith. This is a great opportunity for these students to learn some new skills and step up their leadership capabilities.

On Saturday the 29th June Ms Taylor and I had hte pleasure of attending the Year 13 formal, which this year was held at Six Sixty in Christchurch. A great night was had by all and this was a really fitting way to end what has been a very busy, but awesome term. So happy holidays to all, have a great rest, stay safe and we look forward to working with you all again in Term 3.
