Year 9 Camps

RHS —

Attending camp is one of the most important experiences a school can provide for students. Camps are opportunities to develop many character traits that we want our young people to have for the rest of their lives. Being uncomfortable, and even a little bit anxious, builds resilience and self-confidence. Interacting with new people develops social intelligence and empathy. Testing themselves physically and mentally develops courage and self-belief.

Our Yr 9 camps promoted all these things and more, and our amazing students rose to each and every one of the challenges presented to them. The weather was not always cooperative, and some groups had to deal with very wet and muddy conditions, but they took it all in their stride, and we were so proud of the way they all stepped up and just got on with it.

Some of the highlights included camping out under the stars, swimming in the river, eating delicious food, overcoming fears and most importantly, building new friendships. I am sure that each of our students returned home exhausted, but with many stories to tell and memories to treasure forever.
