Mansfield House News

As we approach the end of our first term we can reflect on how busy and successful the term has been. It has been wonderful to see the return of School and House assemblies. This has made all our lives a bit more hectic, but it has been worth it to celebrate success together.

During Term 1 Sports' Day, Junior and SeniorSsummerFest have been played. Sports' Day was a lovely summer's day, it was wonderful to see the House spirit back again. Mansfield came a respectable fourth. This was due to hard work and participation. Our Year 9 cohort were amazing! So keen. The game of choice for SummerFest this year was Benchball. I have been heartened to see a sea of yellow shirts at all games. Mansfield came 6th in the senior SummerFest and 5th in the junior SummerFest. In both competitions we started off with some losses, but both teams showed perseverance and resilience, by returning to play again. As the teams carried on they worked together better and began to understand each other’s moves. By doing this our results improved and we got some wins. A big congratulations to all students and staff that were involved. It was also great to see senior and junior students putting themselves forward to be referees of these games.

Saturday 1 April was the Relay for Life at Dudley Park. This year a Rangiora High Team was entered instead of separate House teams. It was great to see students from all Houses there showing off their House colours.

A special mention to Riley Helps (11MLHN)  who was one of the biggest steppers on the day, at last count he completed 62,838 steps, which is 58.38km, Go Riley!

Next term’s House events are Netball, Quiz, Haka (Year 9) and public speaking. It will be very busy indeed!

We have seen a lot of Mansfield students being named in top school sports teams: 1st XV, Senior A and B Netball, Senior A Basketball to name a few - so a big congratulations to all. Also a big congratulations to all who just turned up each day, worked their hardest and lived by our values of respect, contribute and aspire!

I wish you all a happy, safe and restful school holiday. I look forward to working with you all again in Term 2 2023. A big thank you to all the staff of Mansfield House - I could not do this without you!
