News from Ngata House

Term 3 has flown by, and at the time of writing this I can barely believe that in a matter of five days we will be finishing school to enjoy the end of term holidays. In terms of business, Term 3 has been no exception. We have enjoyed various sporting activities such as Senior Winterfest, have participated in the House Choir and are awaiting results from Junior Winterfest and Filmfest results.

Teaching and learning is our core business and, for those of you with children who are in the senior school, week 9 has seen your child sit NCEA School Examinations. School Examinations are an extremely important event on the calendar and the grades achieved in these examinations do count for potential derived grades and of course, are very valuable in regards to ascertaining potential achievement in the final NCEA Examinations in November/December. If you or your child have experienced any difficulties, or have concerns in regards to the examination process or concerns as to your child’s progress, please remember that both Mr Berg and I are here to assist you and are available to discuss any queries or concerns that you might have in a view to supporting your child. Please do not hesitate in making contact with us here at school.

In regards to Term 4, this will be upon us very soon, as we participate in the last few House competitions and of course farewell our seniors. Up and coming events are the Oscars Evening which is on Thursday, 27 September in the School Hall from 7pm and our final Ngata House Assembly, where we farewell our senior school, will be on Wednesday 24, October at 8.40am. You as parents and caregivers, are most welcome to attend this event and we would love to see you.

For our senior school, school examinations results will be a topic of discussion, as will transitional steps for those students who leave us this year. For some, this can be a daunting process with the prospect of University applications, Halls and Scholarships, work opportunities and travel. If you or your child need any support in regards to any of these steps, please do not hesitate in seeking support from Mr Berg and me, as we are here to support you.

We are all certainly looking forward to great things to come, and will be working towards making the end of 2018 one of success.

I would like to wish you all a very safe and relaxing holiday, and am looking forward to a fantastic Term 4.
