RHS —

Ms Cashion has joined the Careers Department in 2020 after many years’ experience at Papanui High school as the Head of Careers and Transition, with the last two years as the head of Pathways at Te Kura – the Correspondence School . Joining her is Me Bartlett - Careers Advisor and Mrs Tomkies – Gateway coordinator. We are here to help you with your decisions regarding school subjects and future pathways. Murray Bartlett

I have been a Careers Counsellor since 1995, first at Burnside High School for eighteen years and then here at Rangiora High for the last five years. I have also worked as part of the Careers team at Ara, which gave me a different perspective from school careers work, due to the varied ages and circumstances of the clients. It is a very rewarding role where I get to help our young people with aspects such as school subject choice, career planning, work experience, CV writing, job hunting, and tertiary study choice. We have a central location in Te Tauraka (the student Office end of the Rakahuri building) which means we are easily accessible and very visible. Many students contact me using my email brm@rangiorahigh.school - the ‘brm’ part has matched me well as it sounds like my motorbike when I rev it up and it’s easy for them to remember! My main sporting interest outside of school is Tae Kwon Do and I train twice a week.

Mrs Bev Tomkies

Having been part of the Careers team since 1996 as well as Gateway Coodinator since 2007, most of my day is looking after many Gateway students and securing work placements and training for them.

I have a history of working in many industries prior to my appointment at Rangiora High School, including retail, office administration, aviation and travel agent. I enjoy gardening and my three grandchildren are an important part of my life.
