Business and Enterprise Faculty

Rangiora High School —

It has been another exciting term for our Year 10 Enterprise classes

This term over three consecutive days we ran the BP Business Challenge. On Wednesday, August 22nd over 60 Year 10 students assembled in the library to take part in the three day challenge.

This challenges students to form a business for three days, and culminates in them presenting their business plan to a group of judges at the end of the third day. The judges included local members of our council and business people - Matt Doocey, Val Tones, Stuart Morris and Kirstyn Barnett.

All of the judges were really impressed with the high quality of presentations, and the creative ideas of all of the groups. The group that won had a 'buzz' and a real enthusiasm for their product. They were passionate about their idea and conveyed that to all of the judges.

The winning team was ‘Dress Me’ – who invented and marketed a new clothing app for your smart phone

The team consisted of :

Kaitlin Feather and Brooke McCaleb - CEO

Keegan Stevens– Strategic

Brooke McCaleb – Finance

Maddy George and Holly Peed – Marketing

Kaitlin Feather - Production

All of the students really enjoyed the three day experience. It was a 'taste' of real business, visualising an idea, identifying their target market and competition, and thinking through the finances that surround their idea.

Most importantly the students had fun !

Rangiora High School is very honoured that the YE Trust run this event with our Year 10 students. They find the students at Rangiora High School enthusiastic, innovative and mature.
