Ngata House News

At the time of writing this newsletter, we are fast approaching the end of term, and what a term it has been! Our Year 9 cohort and newly enrolled students, have settled into the rhythm of high school and it has been a real pleasure to share some really great experiences with them; from the Mihi Whakatau to Sports Day, Year 9 Camp and most recently our Senior and Junior SummerFest Competitions. Our 2023 Start Up has been busy and exciting.

On this note, I must congratulate our Ngata students, who, as always, stepped up to the challenge of Senior and Junior SummerFest recently. Fast, competitive and so much fun to watch, this event is a spectacle! Both teams made us proud and we placed well. I would like to thank all involved for their brilliant effort. At this moment in time, we are second on the House leaderboard, so there is much to play for!

I would like to introduce you to our 2023 House Captains and Executive Team. Our House Captain and Deputy are Myjr Coster and Charlotte Middleton. These two fantastic students are ably assisted by our House Executive Team consisting of Esther Spark, Ruby Darragh, Renee Leopold, Jessica Lynsky and Millie Mclaughlan. I am so pleased to be working with these brilliant young people and know that they will serve us proudly. Bright, lively and enthusiastic, they are a sum of parts and very keen to make a difference. The Executive Team will be in touch with all of our students to invite them to join in with our House activities during the year, and will be on hand to support students with any ideas and ways to make our wonderful Ngata House, even better!

From a pastoral care perspective, it is important for you to know that Mr Berg and I are always in the Ngata Office, should your child or whanau need support. Moving forward, into next term, we warmly invite you to contact us if you are concerned or need support with any aspect of your child's learning. We are here to help you and it is our honour to do so. Making connections with our community is of the utmost importance to us and there is no problem too big or small that we will not help you with. So please, do not hesitate to make contact, should you need us.

I wish you a wonderful Easter Holiday and hope that you are able to spend time together, with your whanau, enjoying your precious time together.

Kia hora te marino, kia whakapapa pounamu te moana, kia tere te Kārohirohi i mua i tōu huarahi.

May the calm be widespread, may the ocean glisten as greenstone, may the shimmer of light forever dance across your pathway.
