GIRL POWER

RHS —

We take pleasure in wishing two of our top students all the best for the National Teen Ag competition in the Hawke’s Bay.

Caitlin Rhodes and Luci Grigg recently won the regional Teen Ag competition against 30 other school teams to get this opportunity and they intend to make the most of it. After a strong lead into the competition they are ready for the 5th July where the fly up to Hastings to take on the best teen farmers in the country. They will be tested in a variety of Agricultural and Horticultural fields by completing a series of physical and academic modules. These modules consist of anything from tractor driving, agronomy, soil profiling, banking, fencing and insurance. The competition follows the same format as the New Zealand Young Farmers' competition where after the module section, there is a series of quick fire questioning, debating and general knowledge. We look forward to hearing all about it when they get back - hopefully with a trophy in hand!
