Sports' Day Action

RHS —

The weather in February presented a range of extremes and after the two days of 30 degree heat, we were pleased to run the House Sports' day on a much cooler day.

As always the students had a great time competing and participating for their House. The hotly contested Year 13 Tug of War is the star attraction and was won by Hillary House whose strategy was "Just pull!"

The day starts with the House parade, led by last year's winning House, Rutherford. Costumes, chants, and banners make for a great spectacle. The last event watched by the whole school on the sidelines are the 4x100m relays. There were some very close placings, and some impressive runners. Sadly to say, the Year 13s took out the 8x100m against the staff, by a large margin!

Our Year 13 leaders did a fantastic job supporting their Yr 9 form classes and it was great to see them running alongside them encouraging them along.

This is the 15th year of this event and the passion and enthusiasm of students and staff shows no sign of decreasing. It has set a good platform for the first term.

And the winning House? RUTHERFORD! Well done, they were leaders right from the first event and never let up.
