ROAD RACE
A total of 19 students (including 12 from MSU) competed in the Canterbury Secondary Schools Road Race championships held at the A & P showgrounds in early May with several runners finishing in the top ten placings.
CROSS COUNTRY
Great weather conditions saw 22 students (including 11 from MSU) compete in the Canterbury Secondary Schools Cross Country at Ascot Golf Course. Xanthe Jane won the Year 9 Girls and Troy Washington was 1st overall in the AWD (Athletes with disability). Ten students also finished in the top 10 within their grade.
CROSS COUNTRY - Nationals
Four students went on to compete in the New Zealand Secondary School Championships held in Timaru in mid-June. Xanthe Jane had the best individual result finishing 21st out of 89 & Quade McLachlan 23rd out of 120. Xanthe & Quade both medaled in their Canterbury relay teams. (Xanthe 2nd Y9 & Quade 3rd Senior Boys)
GYMSPORT
Two students competed at the Canterbury Secondary Schools Gym sport competition in June. Alyshia Kemper, Rhythmic Gymnastics was 3rd in Hoops, 4th in ball & rope. Matthieu Rigter was 1st in Junior Elite, Trampoline.
Matthieu Rigter also represented New Zealand in the U15 New Zealand team that competed in Melbourne in May.
Erica Ward, Matthieu Rigter & Kendra Lapslie took home the 1st place trophy in the ICE Canterbury High School Competition (Trampoline)
NETBALL
This season Rangiora High School has a total of 14 teams entered in the North Canterbury Netball Competition which is fantastic.
Our Senior A team also competes on a Wednesday in SuperNet which is an elite netball competition for the best eight girls teams from Canterbury secondary schools. They were lucky enough to be Curtain Raiser for the Tactix in Horncastle Arena which was a highlight for them. Also our Year 10A and Year 9A Teams compete each Wednesday in Hagley against Canterbury Secondary Schools.
Our Year 9A and 10A will be competing in the first week of the July school holidays at the South Island Secondary School Junior Netball Tournament in Christchurch and we wish the teams all the best.
