Principal's Report

RHS —

Ngā mihi ki a koutou

On behalf of the Rangiora High School community I would like to congratulate the parent elected representatives who were returned in the recent election. This continuity will ensure that we, as a school, continue to move forward with a focus on raising achievement through engaging our learners through innovative programmes of learning.

However, before the Board develops its next five-year strategic plan we want to consult with you, our community. Research shows that students are much more successful where a school tailors their learning programmes to the unique needs of its students and community. Your views about learning and your child(ren)’s wellbeing are critical in helping the Board to identify the priorities for the next 5 years for the Rangiora High School’s Curriculum and future goals for the school’s development.

We are planning to consult in two ways:

1. On the Academic Counselling day, on the 6th August, members of the Board, Senior Leaders and our Head Students will be available in the Hall to hear from you. I would encourage you to pop into the Hall around your meetings with staff, to have your say.

2. Later in the term we will also been sending out a survey. We will use the results of the analysis of the feedback from the 6th August to inform the development of this survey.

Consultation will involve the wider community – as well as sending out invitations through our contributing schools to Year 1-8 parents, we will also be sending out invitations to community groups involved with the school. Students will also be consulted. These opportunities will be advertised in daily notices.

Building on the very successful inaugural Careers Expo, Academic Counselling day is an opportunity for you to discuss with your child’s teachers their next steps in their learning pathways and possible career options. Further information will be provided at the beginning of Term 3 re times that the school will be open and where staff will be located.

We look forward to seeing you on 6th August.
