Student Safety - lunch passes, leaving school during the day, sick bay, vehicle passes

Julia Malcolm —

Lunch passes - students who live in Rangiora may apply for a permanent lunch pass which allows them to go home. This is not to go to the shops for lunch, but to go to their own home. The form for this is at the student office.

One off lunch pass - this is for students who live outside of Rangiora who may need to go to the bank, or a similar errand. It is not for going to get lunch from a takeaway.

Appointments during the day - a parent or caregiver must contact the school office by phone/email or a note with their child, if their child needs to leave school during the day for an appointment/meeting/engagement. The child MUST sign out at the student office before leaving.

Sick bay - students who feel unwell must come to the student office, where our office staff who are trained first aiders will help them. The y will contact parents/caregivers and the student will remain in sick bay until they can be picked up, or if they feel better they may return to class. Again it is important that students don't just go home when they feel unwell, without coming to the office so they can be assessed and signed out if appropriate.

Any student leaving school for lunch, an appointment or similar, MUST sign out at the office. This is a SAFETY requirement so in the case of an emergency we know exactly who is on site.

Vehicle passes - students who bring a car or motorbike to school are asked to apply for a vehicle pass (the form can be picked up from the student office.) This is so we we can identify vehicles, if there is damage to them, or of they need moving for any reason. Students with cars must park in the designated areas and follow the road rules, especially in respect to carrying passengers on restricted licences.
