Dear Caregivers

Tena Koutou Katoa

I would like to start by saying thanks to your sons and daughters for being great students, the calibre of any school is measured by the calibre of their students. We have the finest students of any school in the world, and as a staff, we have much too be proud of. We thank you for the love you give to your sons, daughters and the young people you care for.

Term one that been a very busy term and it has presented many events of celebration and challenges. The sports day would have to be one of the finest events I have ever attended at any school. It takes considerable energy, commitment and leadership to organise and run an event like this.

The most difficult event we have had to support each other, was on the 15th March the unthinkable terrorist attack in which fifty people died, seven at Linwood Mosque and forty-two at Al Noor Mosque. Like all communities around New Zealand, we grieved with and stood in solidarity with the Muslim community, the week following that dreadful day, we came together, reflected and supported one another. Much has been said and commented on this unjust event and from this experience as a school I hope we grow to become a kinder, more compassionate and more open to seeing the goodness in each other.

As we finish this term I would like to acknowledge the teachers and support staff. They are a dedicated and committed team, without them, we could not create a school like the one we have.

To all families, who are travelling at Easter, have a safe journey. Students pitch in and do a few chores around the house. Keep safe these holidays, senior students take some time to catch up on some school work if you are behind and also do some planning for term two.
