Results and successes from Term 3 sport.
Football
Congratulations to our students who have been named in NZ Football teams.
Gabbie Rennie who was named in the FIFA U20 Women's World Cup to play in France and Tahlia Herman-Watt who was named as a Standby player.
Gabbie Rennie and Macey Fraser who were invited to attend the NZ U17 ID Camp with the NZ team to be announced.
Ella Fong and Macey Fraser who have been named in the NZ U17 Secondary Schools' Team and will attend tournament in USA next April.
Rifle Shooting
Our school team recently competed in the Target Shooting NZ Challenge Secondary Schools' Postal Shooting Competition and place 3rd out of 23 teams. Our team members were Samantha Plows, Kieran Caddick-Pointon and Oliver Machill.
Canterbury Duathlon
Racing took place in very cold conditions with Ethan McLachlan and Jacob Turner competing in the Individual Duathlon and immediately after the Team duathlon.
U16 Boys – Ethan McLachlan 2nd ; Jacob Turner 3rd
U14 Boys – Quade McLachlan 2nd
Team U16 Boys – RHS 3rd (Ethan McLachlan & Jacob Turner)
Surfing:
Tegen Bishop has been selected in the Under 18 NZ Surf Team as Reserve for the upcoming Junior World Surf Championships in the USA.
Ski/Snowboard
The RHS Ski team recently travelled to Wanaka to compete in the South Island Secondary Schools' champs. The team had two great days' skiing and came away with the following results:
Girls' Snowboard - Tegen Bishop 1st
Boys' Snowboard - Ben Spark 3rd
To qualify the team competed in the Canterbury Champs at Mt Hutt where our Boys' Snowboard team consisting of Ben Spark, Jasper Savage, Ben Johnston and Lachie Carpinter came 1st.
