RHS — Nov 28, 2019

The morning of 21 November saw 11 of our Mainstream Support Programme athletes compete in the Special Olympics Athletics Ribbon event.

We had a number of students who achieved success on this day. Highlights were:

Troy Washington was1st with an 80m sprint in 11sec and a winning shot put of just over 9m. Troy was 2nd in the 200m in the 16 -21 years age category.

Jayden Earnshaw placed 1st in the 80m dash with Gareth Beach coming in 2nd.

Deborah Beg placed 2nd in the 200m and a clear 1st in the 80m, outsprinting her rivals by at least 15m!

Liam Harris won his Shot Put event. Madi Jones had her first ever win at an athletics event, taking out the girls' Standing Long Jump This was made extra special as it was also her 17th birthday.

A few of our students made their debut for SONZ athletics for Rangiora High School. Congratulations to Gareth Beach, Jessica Higgs, Georgia Howe and Rebekah Westaway. Congratulations to these students for a successful day out and for representing their school with pride.
