Tēnā koutou Katoa. As we head into the September school holidays this newsletter provides us with an opportunity to celebrate the many and varied successes of Rangiora High School students.

These are just a few examples of the successes experienced by our students. We are very proud our students and their achievements. To receive regular updates on their achievements and reminders of upcoming events, such as prizegiving, I would encourage you to join the Rangiora High School Facebook page. The dates for prizegivings are listed later in this newsletter, and we look forward to seeing you at these celebrations of the curricular and extracurricular achievements of our students.

Term 3 has also seen the appointment of an Associate Principal. The Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that Paul Donnelly will start work on Monday 5 November. Paul comes to us from St Thomas of Canterbury where he holds the position of Deputy Principal. Paul’s portfolio is Learning Opportunities and his focus will be on creating learning opportunities for our students that are inclusive, equitable and ensure pathways to future learning, training and employment.

Next term is a busy term. For our students in Years 11, 12 and 13 their focus is on achieving NCEA. A number of websites have been developed to help parents and whānau support their young people:

NCEA examinations, unlike the recent school examinations, are written by NZQA panels and marked by NCEA markers. Here at school a number of Faculties / teachers are running tutorials in preparation for these examinations. Please encourage your son or daughter to attend these particularly if they are needing extra support or are aiming to achieve an endorsement. To be successful our students need to put time and effort into revision. The October holidays and exam leave are both opportunities for your child to spend time revising their course work and preparing for the upcoming examinations. It is important at this busy time that all our students look after their wellbeing by eating properly, getting plenty of sleep and exercising.

Please do not hesitate to get in contact with your daughter's or son’s form teacher, Dean or Head of House if any have any concerns or questions re your child’s  academic progress or wellbeing over this next term.
