Sports and Vaccine Status

RHS —

As communicated near the end of 2021, The Board has decided that all participants in School Sport NZ sanctioned events in 2022 will need to be fully vaccinated.

As communicated near the end of 2021, The Board has decided that all participants in School Sport NZ sanctioned events in 2022 will need to be fully vaccinated. Originally, this was only for Term 1 but it has been extended for the whole year to provide some certainty for planning. The mandate will be reviewed against all further applicable Government updates, particularly those issued by Sport New Zealand and the Ministry of Education.

To comply with the Privacy Act, we (schools) are not permitted to share information pertaining to the vaccination status of students with School Sport Canterbury or an external organisation. To ensure that only vaccinated students attend sports events, they are asking schools to attest that they will only send vaccinated students to all School Sport Canterbury school sport events & competitions.

All coaches, managers and officials provided by the school will also need to be fully vaccinated as per the Education mandate.

Students wishing to participate in extra-curricular school sport for Rangiora High School will need to have their vaccine pass loaded on to their phone or available on paper. Students will need to present their vaccine pass to a Sports Co-ordinator at the school sports office when they sign up for sport (during interval or lunch break). A record of the student’s name, student’s school ID number & vaccination pass expiry date is the only information that will be recorded & kept confidential.

We thank you for your support as we manage this additional requirement to ensure we can continue to offer as many sporting opportunities to our students as we can under these regulations.
