Mansfield House News

Kia ora whānau

What an amazing Term 3 we have had in Mansfield House. There has been a lot of achievement by both staff and students. It has been wonderful to have been able to be at school for the whole term. This has been great for student learning and well being. Students of Mansfield house have shown resilience and perseverance in this unusual year; they should be very proud of themselves.

Talking of being proud, I was immensely proud of the Mansfield House choir. They worked tirelessly as a group to produce a waita and power ballad that knocked the other houses out of the park. They really deserved their second place. Special thanks to Amy Phillip from the senior executive who ran every practice with flair and dedication. A special mention to Kaya Bowen and Freya Kersey, who reworked the power ballad to come up with some great harmonies.

I really enjoyed watching the senior students take part in winterfest, where they played mixed netball. We came fifth equal which was not the desired result. But there was a great atmosphere within the team and lots of laughs along the way. For me sport and wellbeing was the winner on the day.

To end the term we have senior speech competitions taking place. Caitlin Tipping and Oliver Machill are representing Mansfield House - we wish them the best of luck.

A massive thank you to all Mansfield form teachers for all the extra care and support you are giving our form classes. It is a busy time with school exams, junior marking and course selection happening all at once. I hope they can all have a well deserved rest over the holidays. Bringing me to our whānau and community - thank you for everything you continue to do to support your learners and the school. Have a break over the holidays from making school lunches.

I look forward to welcoming you all back for a busy Term 4, one of my favourite terms as we get to formally recognise student achievement. A term of fun, celebration and Christmas!!
