RHS —

Ngā mihi ki a koutou

Last week we emailed out an invitation to complete a short survey – the last stage of the Rangiora High School’s Board of Trustees’ consultation to determine the school’s goals and priorities. Having reviewed the feedback and identified the themes from the public consultation held on 6 August, the Board wants to hear from you what learning programmes, skills and capabilities you think the school should be developing to grow our young people as they prepare for their future careers. The survey closes on 9 December.

2019 has also seen consultation by the Government on the future of education in New Zealand. Education Conversation | Kōrero Mātauranga is the hub for these conversations – summaries from the over 43,000 responses to a variety of issues are being published on this hub. This feedback is being used to design a vision that will guide the future of education in Aotearoa / New Zealand for the next 30 years.

As term four draws to an end this newsletter is a celebration of student achievement and the events of 2019. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Head Students, House Leaders and House Executives. Their leadership and teamwork has ensured that there has been a wide range of opportunities for all students to enjoy and ensured, as a school, we continue to support a range of community charities. We wish them and all leavers all the best in their tertiary studies and / or employment.

Term four is a time of celebration. Here at Rangiora High School we have much to celebrate. Rangiora High School students have been recognised for their successes academically, in the sports and cultural arenas and for their service to the community. As the academic year draws to an end, I would like to take this opportunity to invite parents, whānau and caregivers to our Junior Prizegiving on Tuesday 10 December, at 7.00pm in the Rangiora High School Hall.

Term 4 is also a time of farewells. To those students and staff leaving the Rangiora High School, we hope that wherever you go that a little bit of Rangiora High School will be with you always. Good luck and best wishes to each of you in your future endeavours.

In conclusion I would like to thank most sincerely all the families and whānau who have been involved with the school this year, particularly those families whose involvement with the Rangiora High School finishes this year.
