Dear Parents and Caregivers
Wow! Just like that it is nearly the end of Term 3 2023. We have had another great term with lots of learning and fun house activities.
We in Mansfield house were really amped for choir. We had a core group of absolutely fabulous students. These students put their heart and soul into this event, practiced over and over again until we got the songs pitch perfect. We were very proud of Mansfield getting fourth in the choir with their Mashup of three “glamour” songs. Their waiata was one of my favourites and sung beautifully, they were ably assisted by Amber on the guitar.
Three days later the 48 hour FilmFest started. I have seen a sneak preview of the film and I think it is one of our best yet (but I am biased). Next term we hope to have a film evening to view all the films and find out the judges’ report.
Head Shave! An amazing event once again being put on by Mansfield House. This year we are holding it on the very last day of Term 3. We have currently raised over $1000 for child cancer. This has been through our give a little page. As well as students standing outside Countdown in Rangiora with their blue buckets. We are very proud of our 15 brave students, who have signed up to shave their heads. Participants have varied reasons for wanting to take part in this charity event. A huge shout out to Tom’s Chop Shop who will once again give up their time to shave the heads. They are always so flexible and accommodating of our needs. In addition The Italian Job Auto Services- have donated sausages for a sizzle to raise funds. Hell’s Pizza and the Coffee Pot have donated vouchers to give to our participants. Lastly, Countdown has given gift baskets for our raffle. We can not run this event without these local businesses donating either time or money.
Derived grade exam week was held recently. Senior students have been working hard in these exams. This is really the business end of year in terms of student work. Seniors now only have five school weeks left until the end of their year. Which means our Year 13 cohort only has five weeks left of school, forever! I wish to thank my senior executive, they have been a great bunch to work with. I wish them every success for their next step in life.
As always thank you to you the parents. For all that you do for your student in the crazy old roller coaster of life. Have a great Term 3 holiday break. See you in Term 4.
