Spring is upon us.
This term has been one of importance in regards to planning, choice and preparation. Many of our Year 13 cohort have been preparing for their transition to tertiary study with Scholarship and Hall of Residence Applications, which are now complete and they are in the final process of completing NCEA L3 Internal Standards and are preparing for their last day. This time of year for this group of students, in particular, is a very busy, exciting and often daunting time, with huge change ahead. Despite the uncertainty of what lies before them in 2024, it gives me great pride to see our Senior Students rising to the challenge of NCEA, understanding that time is precious; School Examination Week start this week and with NCEA Externals in November and December now imminent, there is little time for complacency, which most understand.
In terms of Inter-House Competitions, this term has seen a variety of fantastic competitions and activities in which to get involved with. Our inaugural and highly anticipated House Choir Competition was held on Tuesday 22 August, and was fantastic. Our choir, led by Amelia Green and Aliannah Thompson was outstanding and I am thrilled to announce that we came Third Place!!! I can quite honestly say that their performance was fantastic, amid stiff competition; their performance was fun, vibrant and very professional.
Our FilmFest entry was filmed and submitted this week and having seen the huge amount of effort that went into starylines, scripts, actinging, sound and lighting, I am waiting with bated breath as to our results for this competition. I would like to give a huge ‘thank you’ to all those involved, particularly Renee Leopold and Amelia Green, who put a huge amount of effort into this production.
Mr Berg and I are very privileged to be surrounded by such wonderful students, parents, caregivers and whanau, and we are always on hand to support you in any matter. With a very busy period ahead, it is important to assure you that Tim Berg and I are always here to help you. If you require any support with your child, please do not hesitate in making contact with us. ‘Team Green’ wishes you well in the hope that you all enjoy your end of term break, wherever you may go.
Kia hora te marino,
kia whakapapa pounamu te moana,
kia tere te Kārohirohi i mua i tōu huarahi.
May the calm be widespread,
may the ocean glisten as greenstone,
may the shimmer of light forever dance across your pathway.
Ngā mihi nui
