Whanaungatanga
As a new team we have had to make new connections, be collaborative and work together.
Our school values help us achieve this. In Kākāriki we have brainstormed these values and how they make us feel when we are included and valued. We all agree that to be valued is something we all desire!
Kākāriki are achieving this already by living each day through the value of Whangaungatanga; connecting with others. Working, playing, being active, communicating, brainstorming, designing, singing, and dancing and just some of the many ways that we bring ourselves together. It isn't always easy, but we are actually quite wise..
"I feel valued when people help me out when I'm struggling."
"Be an up-stander, not a bystander."
"I feel valued when other people respect me."
i feel valued when I spend time with my family and friends."
There are some other strategies we employ to help us keep focused. Our shout out walls are very important to us and acknowledge our successes with others on a daily basis. We are also working towards honouring the three principles of Te Tiriti ō Waitangi; Protection, Partnership and Participation.
Kākāriki has a lot of mana already. Just wait, and watch us grow!!!
