Korfball, a dynamic and inclusive sport, exemplifies the principles of fair play, fun, and healthy competition. Recently, the Rangiora Borough team showcased their exceptional skills and sportsmanship, earning them the prestigious first place trophy in a thrilling two days of tournaments.

Firstly we entered the North Canterbury round of Korfball at Mainpower stadium entering 4 teams into the competition but due to the hard work and commitment of our Rangiora 1 team, we negotiated with the Mixx and they opened up a last minute chance for one of our teams to attend another competition in Selwyn. At Mainpower stadium three of the year 7 to 8 teams earned places in the semi finals. The year 5 to 6 team were unbeaten all day until their final round where they earned second place to Woodend.

One of the core aspects of Korfball is the emphasis on fun and enjoyment. The sport encourages players to have a good time, listen to pop music while engaging in physical activity and competition. All of Rangiora Borough's team members radiated enthusiasm and positivity during their matches, displaying their love for the game. Their collective spirit and infectious energy not only made the sport more enjoyable for themselves but also added to the overall atmosphere of the tournament with our colourful sports shirts standing out.

Rangiora Borough 1 emerged as the victors of the Korfball tournament, both days earning the coveted first place trophy. Their remarkable performance showcased their commitment to fair play, their enjoyment of the game, and their competitive spirit. The team's success can be attributed to their rigorous training, effective communication, and unwavering support for one another.

As they proudly lifted the trophy, Rangiora Borough became an inspiration for future korfball players.
