Angela Newland —

The Kōtare students are excited to learn swimming and water safety skills in a variety of ways.

The Kōtare students have begun the school term by participating in fun filled swimming lessons!

A key aspect of these lessons is focusing on water safety, which has been an engaging and educational experience for all involved.

The students have been showcasing their skills by confidently climbing into boats and mastering the art of safe entry methods. They have also been practicing using unconventional floatation devices such as chilli bins, empty bottles, and even upside-down buckets to float. This wide range of experiences that has ranged from structured swimming instruction to the vital water safety skills are essential for enjoying water activities safely.

The Kōtare students are not only learning to swim but also gaining invaluable knowledge on how to stay safe in and around water - a combination that is setting them up for a summer filled with fun and safety!
