Reminder of School Uniform Guidelines
Uniform is a requirement at Rangiora Borough School and our Rangiora Borough School uniform is compulsory. Navy Blue is our predominant colour, not black.
During our 18 month consultation to update the school uniform, there was overwhelming support to maintain the Navy Blue as the main colour, so that people could source the clothing items other than the branded items, from stores which offered slightly cheaper options.
Unfortunately, we have seen black shorts / black bike shorts / black leggings being worn. Black is not a uniform colour.
It is up to parents to ensure that their child wears correct uniform items.
Please look at the Uniform Publication here (and on our website) for the full expectations of our school uniform.
Thank you to the vast majority of parents / caregivers who are ensuring that this happens.
Our Uniform Requirements
Summer Season or Conditions
Years 0-7
Navy Blue Short Sleeved Polo shirt with school logo
Either Navy Blue Culottes/Skirt or Shorts
Navy Blue Polar Fleece or Rain Jacket
Year 8
An optional softshell jacket for year 8 students is under discussion
Summer Sun Safety
In Terms 1 and 4, students wear a regulation school sunhat when outside. An option with the school brand is available from NZ Uniforms.
Students are required to be sun-safe, and we encourage applying sunscreen to your child’s face, arms, and legs prior to sending them to school. We do also provide sunscreen at school in every learning space.
Winter Season or Conditions
The uniform remains the same, however, a plain dark long sleeve garment may be worn underneath the school polo.
Navy Tracksuit bottoms are acceptable and available from NZ Uniforms.
We understand that in the winter months children need extra layers, however, these can be worn under their school garments (note: out of sight under their clothing)
Shoes & Socks
No jandals, scuffs, crocs or other open backed shoes may be worn. Fully enclosed shoes must be worn in the technology rooms for health and safety reasons and on trips outside the school.
A letter regarding a medical requirement to wear something alternative is required to be sent to the office, along with the timeframe outlined by the practitioner.
Black or white shoes or runners are preferred.
Ankle, crew or knee length socks in black, navy or white.
