Personalising Learning is a key to learner achievement
At Rangiora Borough School, we believe that catering for individual differences in an inclusive learning environment supports good teaching and learning practice.
Our Rangiora Borough Learning Curriculum outlines the practices and principles we use as staff to ensure that we cater for individual learning differences and styles in a holistic and inclusive manner. Over the last few years we have had an emphasis on collaborative teaching and learning across the school, and we believe that in some part, our increased achievement data has been due to this form of teaching and learning practice.
The children are able to choose their best place of learning for the specific task being completed. Sometimes it is by themselves or sometimes in a group. There is time for whole class teaching, but also time for focused small group instruction.
All staff are aware of the needs of the children in their team through clear and visible documentation. This documentation is readily available for use in academic and social needs. It enables all of us to be aware of the differences each learner has.
As there is data accumulated and moderated for our reporting practices to the Board and to you as parents / caregivers, it is important to know that information is shared about our learners and discussion had about achievement on a daily basis with each other as teaching and learning professionals. Through the collaboration of staff, this discussion is purposeful and focused with many voices contributing to progress and achievement data and comments about individual children.
We believe in what we are doing, and know that the information you get as parents is accurate and authentic. It is always important however, to be able to discuss your child's learning at any time with their homegroup teacher. We are a very easily accessible staff and I encourage you to make contact when you feel it is needed.
