RBS Sports Update
Exciting times at Rangiora Borough with sports and activities galore! From swimming to basketball, students are thriving. Let's celebrate teamwork and fun together!
It has been an exciting time for sports at our school so far this year. We recently had senior girls try out for the Rakahuri swimming sports happening on the 7th of March against other North Canterbury schools.
Additionally, many students have signed up for Monday night football, summer hockey, miniball, and basketball, showing enthusiasm and sportsmanship.
Our North Canterbury Sports coaches Braxton, Lilly, and Cole have been dedicated in coaching cricket throughout the full school, instilling teamwork and skills among our students this week.
The Kōtare team had a special training session with Maggie from Canterbury Country cricket, focusing on our year 5 and 6 students.
Basketball has grown in popularity, and we are reinforcing the importance of school values during playtime, ensuring we treat the game as a team pursuit and use positive, inspirational communication towards others. Matua Nathan aims to run a Basketball academy during lunch breaks this term, which will foster growth and resilience in this sport.
Fruit and fitness breaks remain a hit, with the Ruru team enjoying running races and other fun activities. Kōtare students are engaged in games like Catch the Flag, Bucketball, Rounders and Sneak up Granny, fostering camaraderie and fun.
It's heartening to see our students embrace sports with such passion and vigor. Let's continue promoting a positive sports culture and teamwork spirit.
Remember, whether in the pool, on the field, or during breaks, let's embody our school values and make every sports moment memorable and enjoyable for all.
