Cycle Sense Inspires Young Riders on the Path to Cycling Success!
Cycle Sense promotes cycling skills for Year 6 students, fostering safety and enjoyment on the road. Exciting learning experience!
For the past two Monday and Tuesdays, our energetic Year 6 students took on the challenge of Cycle Sense despite the weather. Their enthusiasm was infectious!
Cycle Sense is a wonderful initiative in Waimakariri promoting cycling and enhancing children's skills, helping to create a safer community.
In Grade 1, children learn essential safety practices like helmet fitting and bike maintenance. They also practice basic riding skills like starting, stopping, turning, and signaling. It's all about building a strong foundation for safe cycling habits.
As students progress to Grade 2, they hit the road with expert instructors guiding them through real-life traffic scenarios. From intersections to crossings and passing parked cars, they learn to navigate the streets safely and confidently.
The children all learnt new skills, some went out of their comfort zones to try new cycling strategies, game and procedures. Waimakariri bike project on fb offer an initiative to up cycle and offer free bikes to children, they are running from Dudley park on Wednesday evenings, if the children are interested iand do not have a bike to continue their progress.
