Friday Night Basketball Update

Taara Boyle —

The season is starting soon. Please read through for all the key information you need to know.

Basketball teams have now been organised and information will be coming home with players in the next few days. The organisation of the teams is a time consuming and tricky process, and they are final.

A big thank you to all those parents who have stepped up and volunteered to coach or manage a team. We could not do this without your time, effort and support.

The season begins on Friday the 8th of September and the final game is on Friday the 8th of December. There is no games during the school holidays, Labour weekend or Show weekend.

All players need to register before the first game of the season to be eligible to play. Please click this link to take you to the page: Player Registration. If you have trouble with this please email admin@northcanterbury.basketball for assistance.

Year 7/8 supporters are encouraged to support their players by helping with bench duty.  North Canterbury Basketball will be holding a workshop and Q & A with Hamish Dale (NZ NBL referee and NCBA committee member). He will be showing you how to correctly fill out a FNBB scoresheet, as well as using the Mainpower scoreboards, using the bench paddles and everything else that comes with bench duty. Dates are still to be confirmed, but I will send the information out when we receive it.

With such a huge amount of teams entered, there are a number of venues this year. The venues are:

- Rangiora New Life
- Woodend Community Center
- Kaiapoi High School
- Oxford
- Mainpower Stadium
- Ohoka

Addresses are in the Venue document attached below.

Also attached below is the FNBB Handbook and the Local Competition bylaws, rules and regulations.

Important reminders

- Mouthguards are mandatory for all players

- Payment is to be made to the school by Friday 25th August.

- Uniforms will be handed out once payment is made.

- Sportsmanship is paramount. Players and their whānau are representing Rangiora Borough School. It is important that we are showing fair play and positivity in all instances.

If you have any questions, please contact me.

Thank you
