Kōtare Students: Exciting Cricket Coaching with Rangiora High School!

Angela Newland —

The Kōtare students had an incredible week of cricket, learning and interacting with Year 12 Rangiora high school students who coached them.

It was a fun week for the Kōtare students as they had four  days of cricket. The highlight of these sessions was the presence of Year 12 students from Rangiora High School who came to coach the team. This was a valuable opportunity for our students to learn new skills while interacting with older, more experienced players.

The coaching sessions were designed to cater to small groups, allowing for personalised attention and focused learning. Our students had the chance to work closely with the high school coaches, who shared their knowledge and expertise in the sport. This collaborative environment fostered curiosity, teamwork, and personal growth.

Cricket, as a sport, offers numerous benefits to young individuals, including the development of important life skills such as discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. By engaging in these sessions, our Kōtare kids not only enhance their cricket abilities but also cultivate qualities that will serve them well both on and off the field.

We are incredibly grateful for the support and guidance provided by the Year 12 students from Rangiora High School. Their willingness to share their knowledge and dedication to nurturing young talent is truly commendable.

The Kōtare kids eagerly look forward to the upcoming sessions, as they continue to embrace cricket. These experiences will  shape their love for the sport and contribute to their personal and sporting development.
