Fun Rugby Sessions with UC Coaches -
University of Canterbury sport coaching students have been joining us to teach rugby skills at school on Thursdays. Kids love the sessions with warm-ups, passing drills, and optional safe-play tackle games.
Our school is lucky enough to have the wonderful sports coaching students from the University of Canterbury coming in for five weeks to teach us some cool rugby skills.
Every Thursday lunchtime, the kids have a blast during these sessions. They warm up with fun games, practice their passing skills, and even have the option to join in safe play tackle games.
The coaches are fantastic - they not only teach us how to play but also show us how to tackle properly, play touch and referee the games. On top of this we have also had five of our current staff members trained in the Small Blacks rugby play and tackle training, to help promote safe play within our school. Rugby is a great opportunity for us to learn and have fun at the same time. We can't wait for the next session!
