Friday Night Basketball Referee Opportunity

“Over the past year, we have noticed there is a huge referee shortage, not only in North Canterbury but around the whole Canterbury Region. We are very fortunate to have a strong referee development programme to train, support and develop referees. In preparation for Term 3 and 4 FNBB, we are seeking interest from individuals from the local basketball community who would be interested in giving refereeing a go! Coaches, Players, Past Referees and Parents, step forward and be brave to be supported to learn more about how to referee. FNBB is the perfect way to start your refereeing journey. North Canterbury Basketball will be holding the following mandatory evenings to provide more information and training for FNBB referees:

- Tuesday 6th September 6-7:30pm - Brand new referees

- Wednesday 7th September 6-7:30pm - Yellow shirt referees

- Thursday 8th September 6-7:30pm - Grey shirt referees

- Thursday 8th September 5:30-6pm - Floor controllers

The dates of FNBB competition are:

- 16th September

- 23rd September

- 30th September

- 21st October

- 28th October

- 4th November

- 18th November

- 25th November

- 2nd December

- 9th December

All of our referees are paid:

10 minute 3x3 games:

- Junior Referee $1.87 per game

- Intermediate Referee $2.50 per game

- Experienced Referee $3.00 per game

40 minute 5v5 games:

- Junior Referee $7.50 per game

- Intermediate Referee $10.00 per game

- Experienced Referee $12.00 per game
