Rangiora Borough School

Kia ora tatou, Talofa lava, Mālō e lelei, Kia orana, Bula vinaka, Namaste, Nǐ hǎo, Salve, Bonjour, Kamusta, de Groeten, Greetings.

We have so many things happening already in our school, and even more planned for our amazing children.

We have an article written by some student leaders letting us know about their leadership day, and also introducing our community to these amazing young leaders and ambassadors for our school. Make sure you read this article and along with me, congratulate these awesome people.

As a school, we never ask for money for trips that are part of the school curriculum. We do not ask for a contribution to swimming. We supply all the stationery requirements. We believe in a school community that fosters and supports equitable access to everyday education.

However, as has done with everything, all costs have increased but funding hasn't at that same rate. I am thankful for a great staff and whānau members that are thinking outside of the box and creating opportunities for us to bridge the gap so we can continue to offer all that we do, and the amazing experience of school camps and outside of school activities.

We have put in place a school fundraising calendar, so that we are able to support all our learning teams in responding to the special extras that we want to be able to give our children, like reducing the cost for camps, having extra outings, and also just importantly, giving back to certain parts of our community by being able to have a "special" day for a particular charity. At the moment, we have two events happening in which we would love for our school community to help us with. Everyone likes beautiful spring flowers, and good quality hot cross buns. Both of these are easy to be able to sell to other family members and other community people. We thank you for your support in this.

There are two other big events in the next two weeks.

Next week we have John Parsons the Cyber Safety expert here at school for a day. Please look at the article and think seriously about attending the Parent Evening on Thursday 7 March. It is eye opening and provides you with amazing practical advice and knowledge. OUR HERO App has this notice pinned so that you are able to respond and let us know how many are coming - we have over 50 parents/caregivers attending so far.

In Week 7, we have the IceSkateTour at our school. Already there is much excitement! Make sure you check out the article and book in for the evening session if you would like that for your children. You are more than welcome to bring your family friends of the same age group too. Thank you to those who have already responded on the HERO app by letting us know if you can help set up or pack down the rink setup. We still require a few more people at both times.

Just a reminder of the Staff Only Day for next Friday, March 8. School is closed for staff to be learning from Kathryn Berkett. Have a look at the article to find out about her.

Once again, thanks for all that you are doing in supporting our children and the school in the community.

Keep smiling

Shane
